Is it chilly where you are? Whether you're experiencing a cold snap or not, there's never a bad time to revisit a classic song more appropriate for the mid-year months: Seals and Crofts’ “Summer Breeze.”

Produced by Louie Shelton, who had also helmed the duo’s debut album for Warner Bros., Year of Sunday, “Summer Breeze” was the title track of Jim Seals and Dash Crofts’ sophomore LP. More than a few casual fans of the twosome likely just presumed that Summer Breeze was their first album, but they’d been recording together as a duo since 1969, releasing a self-titled affair, and following it with their sophomore effort, Down Home, in 1970.

The success of Summer Breeze, however, blew everything Seals and Crofts had done up to that point completely out of the water, hitting No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and going platinum. That success, of course, can be attributed heavily to the aforementioned title track, which provided them with a No. 6 hit on the Hot 100 as well as a No. 4 hit on the adult contemporary charts. In subsequent years, Seals and Crofts would deliver unto the world two further Top 10 singles – “Diamond Girl” and “Get Closer,” both of which went to No. 6 – but if you try another one of those man-on-the-street polls and ask people to name the duo's biggest hit...well, we can guarantee that their answer ain’t gonna be either of those!

Indeed, “Summer Breeze” became such a beloved song that it’s been covered a number of times over the decades, and just to help keep you warm on these cold winter nights, here’s some more “Summer Breeze” to make you feel fine.
