This week, Jethro Tull celebrated the 50th anniversary of their seminal song "Aqualung" with a brand-new animated video for the track.
Director Sam Chegini deftly combines surreal representations of images from the song's storied lyrics as well as a sharp visual commentary on the modern homelessness crisis. Ian Anderson, who makes a rotoscoped cameo in the clip, told Rolling Stone he met Chegini through a recommendation from King Crimson vocalist Jakko Jakszyk, and praised him to the magazine as "a talented young man with a bright future in the music arts.”
Anderson recently announced the forthcoming publication of Silent Singing, a book of his complete lyrics up to and including Jethro Tull's still-in-progress next album The Zealot Game. A remixed and expanded edition of the band's 1980 album A is available April 16.
