Next month sees the release of a new deluxe edition of The Replacements' debut album - and this week on The Rhino Podcast, a trio of special guests takes us behind the scenes on that new package.

On the latest episode, Rich Mahan welcomes the three producers behind the new 40th anniversary edition of Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash. Author Bob Mehr is no stranger to fans of the band, as the author of the definitive 'Mats biography Trouble Boys and a Grammy Award winner for the liner notes to an earlier box set by the band, 2019's Dead Man's Pop. Peter Jesperson was an early ally of the group's, as the co-founder of Minnesota label Twin/Tone Records - The Replacements' label for much of their career. Rounding out the ranks is Jason Jones, an A&R producer at Rhino Records.

Together, they go long on the legacy of The Replacements and their early, messy years. You'll hear parts of the unreleased demos that make up the set's bonus material, and insight into not only the early processes of frontman and songwriter Paul Westerberg but his bandmates: guitarist Bob Stinson, bassist Tommy Stinson and drummer Chris Mars. It's an exciting teaser for the main event: the release of the box set on Oct. 22.
