Songwriter Adam Schlesinger, known for his work with Fountains of Wayne, has been hospitalized due to the coronavirus, but is not in a medically induced coma, as suggested on a fan page.
Schlesinger's long-time attorney Josh Grier confirmed the news to Rolling Stone, sharing that although he is unable to visit the "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" producer as "he's very sick and is heavily sedated, as are all people on ventilators, but no one has used the word 'coma' to me."
The 52-year-old is on a ventilator at a hospital in upstate New York, where he has been receiving treatment for over a week. "Stacy's Mom" Schlesinger co-founded Fountains of Wayne with Chris Collingwood, who shared a statement from Schlesinger's family detailing he is "receiving excellent care, his condition is improving, and we are cautiously optimistic."
Earlier this week, coronavirus claimed the life of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" songwriter Alan Terrill, who passed away at the age of 69.
